The opening of the children's telling

Long, long ago, far away, there lived a king named Aparajit. He had gold and palaces and everything a king could want. But one day he thought, all these things will go away one day. I want something that lasts forever. So he gave his kingdom to his son and became a monk. He was so good and so gentle that his soul became ready to be a great teacher.

Many years later, in a city called Kaushambi, Queen Susima was going to have a baby. One night she saw fourteen beautiful dreams. The wise men smiled and said, your baby will be a Tirthankar, a teacher for the whole world.
