The opening of the children's telling

Long ago, in the city of Mithila, there was a good and wise king named Nami. He had a lovely palace, happy people and many queens who loved him.

One day the king became very ill with a hot fever. He felt as if he was burning, and he could not sleep. The doctors said that cool sandalwood paste might help. So the queens sat down together to rub sandalwood on grinding stones and make the paste for him.
