The opening of the children's telling

Long ago, in the city of Pataliputra, a wise minister had seven daughters. Their names were Yaksha, Yakshadatta, Bhuta, Bhutadatta, Sena, Vena and Rena. Each one had a wonderful memory.

Yaksha could remember a whole poem after hearing it just once! Yakshadatta needed to hear it twice. Bhuta needed three times, and so on. Little Rena needed to hear it seven times, and then she knew it perfectly too.
