The opening of the children's telling

Long ago, in a city called Sudarshan, there lived a boy named Suvrat. His mother and father loved him very much. He grew up clever and kind.

When Suvrat grew up, he did not want riches or fancy things. He wanted peace in his heart. So he became a monk. He walked from place to place and spent long hours sitting or standing very still, thinking good and quiet thoughts.
